Welcome to the millennial year at the threshold of millennium three. During millennium two, humanity continually redefined its concept of "Universe": first as spheres centered on the Earth, in mid-millennium as the Solar System, a few centuries ago as the Galaxy, and within the last century as the matter emanating from the Big Bang. During millennium three humanity may hope to discover alien life, to understand the geometry and composition of our present concept of Universe, and even to travel through this Universe. Whatever our accomplishments, humanity will surely find adventure and discovery in the space above and beyond, and possibly define the surrounding Universe in ways and colors we cannot yet imagine by the threshold of millennium four.
Bienvenidos al año milenial en el umbral del tercer milenio. Durante el segundo milenio, la humanidad redefinió continuamente su concepto de "Universo": primero como esferas centradas en la Tierra, a mediados del milenio como el Sistema Solar, hace algunos siglos como la Galaxia, y dentro del último siglo como la materia emanada del Big Bang. Durante el tercer milenio, la humanidad podrá aspirar a descubrir vida extraterrestre, a comprender la geometría y composición de nuestro concepto actual del Universo, e incluso a viajar a través de este Universo. Sean cuales sean nuestros logros, la humanidad encontrará sin duda aventura y descubrimiento en el espacio que se extiende más allá, y posiblemente definirá el Universo que nos rodea de formas y con colores que aún no podemos imaginar en el umbral del cuarto milenio.
