Snow blankets the ground in this serene forest and sky view. Assembled in a 360 degree panoramic projection, the mosaicked frames were captured at January's end along a quiet country road near Siemiony, northeastern Poland, planet Earth. The night was cold and between trees reaching toward the sky shine the stars and nebulae of the northern winter Milky Way. Near zenith is bright star Capella, a mere 43 light-years above the tree tops. Alpha star of the constellation Auriga the Charioteer and part of the winter hexagon asterism, Capella is a well-studied double star system. Follow the Milky Way above and right of Capella and you might spot the familiar stars of Orion in the northern winter night.

Compuesta en una proyección panorámica de 360 grados, las imágenes mosaico fueron capturadas a finales de enero a lo largo de una tranquila carretera rural cerca de Siemiony, en el noreste de Polonia, en el planeta Tierra. La noche era fría y entre los árboles que se alzan hacia el cielo brillan las estrellas y las nebulosas de la Vía Láctea del invierno norteño. Cerca del cenit se encuentra la brillante estrella Capella, a tan solo 43 años luz sobre las copas de los árboles. Estrella alfa de la constelación de Auriga el Carro, y parte del asterismo del hexágono invernal, Capella es un sistema binario de estrellas bien estudiado. Sigue la Vía Láctea por encima y a la derecha de Capella y podrías localizar las estrellas familiares de Orión en la noche invernal del norte.
