Have you seen the passing planets yet? Today the planets Jupiter and Venus pass within half a degree of each other as seen from Earth. This conjunction, visible all over the world, is quite easy to see -- just look to the west shortly after sunset. The brightest objects visible above the horizon will be Venus and Jupiter, with Venus being the brighter of the two. Featured above, the closing planets were captured two nights ago in a sunset sky graced also by high-level noctilucent clouds. In the foreground, the astrophotographer's sister takes in the vista from a bank of the Sec Reservoir in the Czech Republic. She reported this as the first time she has seen noctilucent clouds. ¿Ha visto ya a los planetas que pasan? Hoy los planetas Júpiter y Venus pasan a menos de medio grado de distancia uno del otro, según se ve desde la Tierra. Esta conjunción, visible en todo el mundo, es bastante fácil de observar: basta con mirar hacia el oeste poco después del atardecer. Los objetos más brillantes visibles por encima del horizonte serán Venus y Júpiter, siendo Venus el más brillante de los dos. En la imagen destacada, los planetas en su acercamiento fueron capturados hace dos noches en un cielo de atardecer adornado también por nubes noctilucentes de alta altitud. En primer plano, la hermana del astrónomo fotógrafo contempla la vista desde una orilla del embalse Sec en la República Checa. Ella informó que este fue el primer momento en que ha visto nubes noctilucentes. Júpiter y Venus aparecerán aún más cercanos entre sí esta noche y continuarán siendo visibles en la misma parte del cielo hasta mediados de agosto.
